Pauline A. Allen

P. Allen 2022

Lewiston- Pauline Alice Allen, 84, died peacefully at her home September 27, 2026, following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Lewiston in 1942, the daughter of Antonia Cyr and Levite D. Cyr.

Pauline was a hardworking and devoted mother who always put her family first. She worked in the administrative office at Kmart for more than 20 years, while also holding multiple jobs as a single Mom during the 1980s to ensure her children had a roof over their heads and food on the table. Her selflessness, determination, and unwavering love for her family were hallmarks of her life.

Married in 1997, Pauline shared many wonderful years with her late husband, Robert. They enjoyed traveling all over Maine, to St. Anne and Quebec City, Canada, as well as the warmth of their Florida home during the winter months for many years. These travels and experiences inspired Pauline's artistic spirit and became the foundation for many of her creations.
A talented artist, Pauline loved painting scenes inspired by the places she visited and the beauty she found around her. During winters in Florida, she devoted countless hours to painting, often completing dozens of works. When spring arrived and the couple returned to Maine, Robert would handcraft frames and special cut glass for her paintings. Together, they traveled throughout the state, displaying Pauline's work at sidewalk and community park art shows. Her paintings earned numerous ribbons, including Best in Show, second- and third-place honors, and purchase prizes. Their shared love of art made these experiences especially meaningful.

Pauline also had a lifelong passion for sewing, which eventually blossomed into a remarkable talent for quilting. She created countless beautiful quilts for family and friends, each made with care and love. Following Robert's passing in 2019, Pauline found solace in her sewing room, often spending hours in a day immersed in the craft. Through her talent and generosity, she gave back to her community in an extraordinary way, creating and donating more than 300 lap quilts and dozens of tote bags to Kadenz Kitchen, a local warming shelter and food pantry. Her kindness and dedication earned her the affectionate name “Community Angel” from her friends at Kadenz Kitchen. It was a name she truly lived up to, bringing warmth, comfort, and hope to those in need.

She was predeceased by her parents, beloved husband, Robert G. Allen and niece Michelle Cyr Lundin.  Pauline is survived by her daughter, Kathy Snow, and her husband, Howard; her son, Steve Jacques, and his wife, Stephanie; her sister, Dorothy Plourde, and her husband, Roger; her brother, Paul Cyr, and his life companion, Evelyn Lauze; her nieces, Susan Plourde and her husband, Steve; Denise Galipeau and her husband, Albert; her nephew, Richard Plourde, and his wife, Pauline; Grandson, Jacob Cyr; Granddaughter, Victoria St. Laurent and her husband Micheal. Special recognition also to the entire Allen family for loving Pauline like a Mom, Aunt, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She will also be deeply missed by her lifelong friends, Linda Girardin and C.J. Tolini, as well as her loving neighbors, Bernie and Pauline Fortier, who frequently checked in on her and embraced her as part of their family.
She was a devoted mother, loving sister, aunt and grandmother, a talented artist, gifted quilter, and a generous friend whose kindness and creativity touched the lives of many.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to her team at Andwell Hospice for the exceptional care and compassion provided during her battle. Special thanks are also extended to lifelong family friend, Amy Poulin, whose loving presence was a blessing to Pauline and her family during her illness and on the day of her passing.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Pauline's memory may be made to Kadenz Kitchen Food Pantry, in honor of the organization she so generously supported.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on October 30, 2026, at St. Peter's Cemetery Chapel.
