Evelyn Augusta Young, a beloved member of her community, passed away on March 4, 2026, at the Ochsner Health Rush Foundation Hospital in Meridian, MS. Born on March 27, 1944, in Gardiner, ME, Evelyn's journey through life was marked by her deep devotion to family, her vibrant spirit, and her tireless contributions to those around her.

For the past six years, she resided in Lake, MS, after moving from Bowdoin, ME, where she left a lasting impact on her community. Evelyn attended the First Baptist Church in Lake, MS. Her commitment to service extended beyond her church; she proudly served as the President of the Ladies Fireman's Auxiliary in Bowdoin, ME, showcasing her passion for helping others and her active involvement in local initiatives.

Evelyn had a zest for life that was evident in her many hobbies and interests. She found joy in embarking on bus tours, exploring flea markets, and collecting Native American jewelry, each treasure reflecting her appreciation for culture and craftsmanship. Her warm personality and love of community endeared her to many, ensuring that her memory will continue to resonate with all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Evelyn leaves behind a loving family who carries forward her legacy of kindness and generosity. She is survived by her sons, Bradley Young (Tiffany) and Larry Young (Rose); her daughter, Holly Fournier; her daughter-in-law, Diane Pratt; ten grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. Additionally, she is remembered fondly by a multitude of cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles who cherished her presence in their lives.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Bradley Young Sr.; her son, Bryan Pratt; her son-in-law, Dean Cornish; and her sister, Ernell Dubois, all of whom she missed dearly. Their memories live on through the stories and love shared by her surviving family members.

Evelyn Augusta Young's legacy is one of compassion, service, and love—a beacon that will undoubtedly shine on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her departure leaves a void that will be felt deeply, but her spirit will forever inspire those left behind.

Family and friends are invited to visit from 4-6pm Friday, July 31 at Kincer Funeral Home 130 Pleasant St. Richmond, Me.  A graveside service will be held at noon Saturday, Aug. 1st at the West Bowdoin Cemetery, West Bowdoin, Maine.
