Tammy Trufant

Our beautiful Tammy passed away peacefully at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick, on January 6, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was 53 and young at heart.  Born in Brunswick, August 30, 1972, to Donald Pelletier and Donna (Harding) Hurley.  She grew up in Richmond and graduated from Richmond High School and worked at Barry Koeler’s Law Office for a brief time as a legal assistant, and then at the Brunswick Police Department as assistant to the Chief of Police for 25 years, leaving after her illness became too much.

She married her soulmate and best friend, Bill Trufant, in 2002.  Tam was a very private, strong and independent person and faced challenges head-on, while keeping her sense of humor.  She loved music and attending concerts, shopping with mom, home decorating and loved the Christmas season with the music, decorating and putting her tree up as early as November 1st. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time outside on her deck with her husband, listening to music and watching the deer was especially special to her.  She was many things to many people, but most importantly she was a rock when times were tough. She never backed away from helping the one’s she loved, even when energy levels were low.
She was predeceased by her grandparents Donald and Jeannette Harding and Wilbur and Pauline Pelletier.

She leaves behind her husband, Bill, her mother, Donna, and stepfather, Richard Hurley, her father Donald Pelletier, and his wife, Bernadette, her brothers Sean and Jamie Pelletier and their mother, Ginny.  Brother Mark Hurley and sister Laurilee Hurley, and her special “Auntie” Linda Whitney, as well as multiple uncles, aunts, and many nieces and nephews.

Many thanks and appreciation go to her extended family of Dr. Brian Haney and his team of nurses and staff at the New England Cancer Center in Topsham.  They provided Tammy with the upmost love and care while she was undergoing treatment at their facility.
