Clayton R. Brown

Clayton Brown picAppleton-Clayton Robert Brown, 89, passed away on September 7, 2025 at his residence.


He was born on January 21, 1936 in Standish ME in a one room cabin and a dresser drawer was his bed to Robert and Bessie Brown.

Clayton graduated from Potter Academy Sebago ME in June 1954.

Clayton then entered the Air Force in June 1954 until his retirement in July 1974, where as he returned to his hometown of Sebago, where he lived until 2019. After his retirement from the Air Force he started working for Stultz Electric Motor Systems in Westbrook from July 1974 until his retirement in May 2004.

He was married to Gloria Jean Rolfe Brown from Oct 1956 until her passing in 2010.

Clayton was an avid Bluegrass musician, who enjoyed playing the banjo and mandolin. Also enjoyed all the Bluegrass Festivals, watching the birds on the back deck of his home in Appleton while enjoying his morning coffee, woodworking, spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by Janice Stockbridge, his significant other of Appleton, son Clayton {Skip} Brown II of Sebago, daughter Trina Brown of Naples, son Billy Brown and wife Melissa of Sebago, 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren.

Clayton was predeceased his parents, wife Gloria Jean Brown, and son Robert Jordan Brown.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 22nd at 1pm at the Steep Falls Cemetery, Steep Falls.
