TURNER – Laurette Dumas Chapman, born on June 22, 1928, passed away at the Horizons Living and Rehab Center on May 7, 2025 at the age of 96.
Laurette had a full life and a loving family. The last to pass away of five sisters, she was born in Lisbon Falls and grew up in Durham. Laurette married Robert Willette and had four children.
Laurette took a job at the Red and White Supermarket in Lisbon Falls. She married Arthur Chapman on June 22, 1965, and together they operated the Prospect Hill Golf Course, the Apple Valley Golf Course and Maple Lane Golf Course. Laurette was an avid reader and gardener, and a lover of cats. In her later life Laurette and Arthur operated a flower and vegetable stand in Turner Maine.
Laurette is survived by two children Alan Willette and Sherry Green, two step children, Arthur V. Chapman III, Jean C. Cogguillo, 17 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur and two sons Larry and Glen Willette, one step daughter Jane Bennett, her parents Louis L. Dumas and Albia Annette Boultbee Dumas, four sisters Annette Dumas Tibbitts, Bernice Dumas Curtis, Mildred Dumas Alexander, and Beverly Dumas Craig.
She will be remembered as a hard-working and loving woman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at Our Lady of the Snows, 265 Walker’s Mills Rd (Route 26) in Bethel on Saturday, June 14, at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery in Bethel.
