Charles Harlan Wright, 68 of Woolwich, Maine passed away on Sunday, March 2nd, 2025 after a battle with cancer.
He was born September 9th, 1956 to Beverly E. (Carleton) and Harlan S. Wright of Woolwich. He attended Woolwich Central School and was a 1974 Graduate of Morse High School.
At an early age he worked alongside his Dad on the family farm, sawmill and rototilled many gardens. After high school he worked in the woods where he was either sawing down trees or hauling out logs. He always loved working in the woods.
In the 1980’s he started his career at Bath Iron Works. He really enjoyed his job working as a rigger and often said he “got to work with some real good people.” If you had the pleasure of working alongside him, you knew he loved a good practical joke. Couldn’t he laugh, a laugh so distinct and infectious you couldn’t help but join in. If you knew Chuck, you knew he was a worker. Along with working full time on second shift at BIW, he worked many years with his cousin and long-time friend Ray Soule of Ray Soule Excavating in Wiscasset.
He enjoyed watching football, auto racing and playing a good game of cribbage. His true passion was woodworking. He spent many hours in his workshop listening to the radio. If you touch the dial to turn it down, you better have something good to say. He would spend hours building whatever his daughter had scribbled out for him in his notebook, and together they built and designed nearly every wooden piece of furniture in her home today. As long as it was made with Oak and he had the measurements, he could build anything. Heaven forbid you chose to paint it, he was sure to make you aware of his disapproval.
Often referred to as a “Jack of all trades, Master of none.” From helping with his Grandson’s dirt bike, his nephew’s racecar, or anything his daughter needed a hand fixing. He enjoyed being helpful and offering his opinion.
He was loved by many and will be missed by all
He is predeceased by both of his parents and his sister Karen (Wright) Start.
He is survived by his daughter, Marie Buckmore and her husband Steve, grandson Kaden Lopez of Sabattus, sisters Shelby Tomlins and Charlotte Kaplan, and brother, Kenny Wright, and his wife, Amanda, all of Woolwich, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Wright Residence 879 Middle Road, Woolwich Maine on Saturday, March 15th 2025.
Arrangements are under the care of Kincer Funeral Home, 130 Pleasant St., Richmond, ME 04357
