Jeffrey Ackley

pic AckleyJeffrey Ackley, 63 of Richmond Maine passed away peacefully on Friday, January 20th with family by his side after a long, brave battle with lung cancer.

He was born in Machias, Maine on February 24,1959 to Fred & Emma Ackley (Smith) and grew up in Cutler, Maine with 7 other siblings. Jeff grew up and started creating his own family and enjoying his life. He started his employment with Guilford Railroad as a railroad conductor for many many years. After a long life on the railroad he went on to enjoy becoming a deckhand on a lobster boat with good friend, Mickey during the Summer months. Most recently before he became ill he had accomplished his class B license and became a truck driver for Panther Trucking to where he had the opportunity to travel and see most of the United States.

Jeff was truly an avid outdoorsmen all of his life and enjoyed everything it entailed. Down to hunting, fishing, boating, ATVs and spending weekends up to camp. He also loved the ocean and would spend hours metal detecting the beaches for lost treasures. He was always the one looking for a great deal, either seeking a Mardens find, Craigslist or simply a good ole yard sale. The last few years he enjoyed spending his days at his sons boatyard lending a helping hand anywhere he could. Most of all, Jeff adored his family and friends and loved nothing more than the role of being a father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, friend or just a listening ear. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Amanda Ackley of Livermore Falls; Son, Peter Ackley of Douglasville GA; Daughter, Erica Ackley of Richmond ME. Grandchildren, Emma, Julianna, Conner, Abigale and Thomas. Great granddaughter, Ellie; Brothers, Danny, Allen and Frank. Sisters, Darlene, Jeanine and Mariel.
