Kathryn Pauline (Leslie) Conley

Kathryn Pauline (Leslie) Conley, 88, of Bowdoinham, Maine passed away peacefully at home

surrounded by family on December 20th, 2022.

Kathryn was born March 8th, 1934, in a small house tucked in a little harbor on Deer Island,

New Brunswick, Canada. She was one of ten children of the late Osgood and Effie (Doughty)

Leslie. She had a humble childhood attending a one room schoolhouse on the island yet magical

as she fondly recalled ice skating on the pond in the winter. She also had not so fond memories

having to pick blueberries in the summer before she could go swimming. She would reminisce

about riding in a horse-and-buggy around the quaint island. Her family lived off their vegetable

garden and cows. Her father was a fisherman and they often had fish for supper.

She married Edward Clinton Conley, also from Deer Island, on October 12th, 1952. They

eventually settled in South Portland, Maine where she worked packing sardines in Portland,

then Fairchild National Semiconductor, and eventually Idexx. Edward passed away October

29th, 2001, and she remained in South Portland until 2017. She moved to Bowdoinham to live

with her son Scott and family in a custom-built mother-in-law apartment. She was able to live

at home with her family taking good care of her for the remainder of her life.

She loved quilting, sewing, and anything crafty. Some of her fondest memories were going to

Lancaster County, Pennsylvania to stay with the Amish 25 years annually with her dear friend

Ann Cloutier. She loved the ocean, seafood and eating lunch at Bug Light in South Portland. She

always had tacos on Fridays and beans every Saturday night. She enjoyed watching Wheel of

Fortune and Jeopardy. She loved phone calls from old friends and dear family and spending

time with her son, daughter in law and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by those who

loved her.

She is survived by her son, Scott Conley, daughter in law Rebecca (Boothby) Conley and

grandchildren Blake and Savannah Conley.

Brother Roger Leslie and sister-in-law Peggy of Fairhaven, NB. Canada, sister Muriel Estabrooks

of Saint Stephen, NB. Canada, sister Ruth Lyons of Calais, Maine. Kathryn was predeceased by

both parents, her husband Edward Conley, her brothers Maxwell, Stanley and Willard Leslie,

sisters Doris Cogswell, Betty Heywood and Ida Leslie.

The Family would like to thank CHANS Home Health & Hospice, Mid Coast Hospital and

Brentwood Rehab & Nursing Center, Kincer Funeral Home and all the friends and family who

have and continue to reach out with loving sympathy and support.

She will be buried next to her husband Edward with a graveside service at Forest City Cemetery
