Candide I. Lemay

website LemayWinthrop- Candide I. Lemay, 93 of Winthrop ME passed away Monday, November 25, 2024 at her home of natural causes.

She was born on August 10, 1931 in Lewiston ME, the daughter of Joseph and Marie Louise (Desrochers) Lemay. 

She was a member of Holy Family Church, graduated from Ste. Famille School in 1945 and then graduated from Lewiston High School in the class of 1949. She enjoyed singing in the LHS Minstrel Show from 1947 to 1948.

She had many job opportunities in her life and later became a professional legal secretary, winning many awards. While working for the Government, she traveled the world. She resided in Tunisia while working abroad and started a collection of beautiful antiques. When she came back to the USA, she enjoyed selling these items along with two of her sisters, Terry and Alice.

She was very proud of herself when she purchased a camp on Narrows Pond at a very young age. Her parents and family spent many summers there boating, water skiing, swimming, BBQ's and gardening. We all have great memories of "the camp."

Although she never married, she enjoyed the company of many pets from beagles to her black lab, Lucy.

She resided in Winthrop for many years and built a small home there. She loved watching the deer, squirrels, chipmunks and birds.

She was predeceased by her parents, siblings Leo, Theresa, Alice, Cecile and Michel. Also a very good friend, Betty J. Harris in 2022.

She is survived by many nieces, nephews , cousins and a longtime friend since 1950, Marielle Bisson of California.

A Memorial Service is being planned for next Spring of 2025.
