He dedicated 31 years of service to the Richmond Fire Department, including nine years as fire chief. He also worked at Bath Iron Works in the tin shop for 30 years.

An avid outdoorsman, Richard found joy in snowmobiling with friends and family. He was an active member and trail groomer with the Four Winds Snowmobile Club and the Abbot Explorers ATV Club. He loved spending the warmer months riding his "buggy" (as he called any motorized vehicle, especially his four-wheeler) and looked forward to fishing and hunting trips. He delighted in telling stories of his many adventures with friends and family.

Richard was known for his daily phone conversations with his brothers Ron and Gary, as well as close friends Wayne Ellis and John Dain, sharing updates and keeping them connected. He also took great pride in his role as the unofficial "Mayor of Monson Junction," reporting local happenings to his friends.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Veteran Affairs (VA) medical teams in Rumford and Augusta for their care and support over the years.
