Dana R. Russell

DanaDana Robert Russell, 66, passed away on June 2, 2024 in Scarborough.
He was born in Boston on October, 2, 1957 the son of Winfield and Elizabeth Russell.
Dana attended Paul A. Dever School in Taunton MA in the '60s*. (*Since then, Dana reached his full potential because of the Eunice Kennedy Shriver efforts to ensure that all children have the chance to achieve full, healthy and productive lives.)  In 1972, his family moved to Dresden, Maine and Dana attended Elmhurst, Inc in Bath until 2010. Dana was a charter-resident in Elmhurst's first group home. After the move to Casa’s care in Scarborough he captivated everyone with his charm and the staff loved him dearly. He was named "King of Casa"! Dana knew Jesus in his heart and it showed! Dana loved to work, help, organize, and plan—He was an engaging people-person and knew everyone’s doings. Dana enjoyed the daily social atmosphere—especially when there was pizza & root beer to share! Plus, the Special Olympics and community events were his favorites. Wearing RED and finger-nail polish was always a hit. His smile, accompanied by his kind, generous nature brought joy to everyone who knew him. He "supervised" many activities. He loved Irish music & Johnny Cash songs. Dana was persuasive & loved to shop in-person and on-line whenever he “needed/no wanted” something.

Dana earned spending money at Elmhurst with the manufacture of tool bags for Bath Iron Works. More recently, he would frequent Casa’s front office to help. He earned the title “ace” shredder. He also was a master take apart mechanic. He was predeceased by his parents, Winfield and Elizabeth (Boyd) Russell.  Dana is survived by Alan Russell, brother, and his wife Kim (Robinson) Russell, Jacqueline (Russell) McKeen, sister, and her husband Kevin, nieces Christine and KayLynn Russell, Erin (McKeen) Holbrook and husband Evan, Allison McKeen and husband Matt Demers, nephews Ted McKeen and his wife Beth, Jonathan McKeen and wife Erin Kennedy, 8 Grandnieces and grandnephews and many cousins.
