Kandace (Cumming) Lord
June 27, 1979 - January 19, 2024
On Friday, January 19th, 2024, Kandace (Cumming) Lord passed away after a brief illness at Midcoast Hospital in Brunswick. Though her sudden departure is a difficult adjustment for the family and friends close to her, Kandace's immense impact has been felt through the outpouring of love from her community.
Kandace was born in Presque Isle, Maine on June 27, 1979 to Gregory and Kimberly Cumming and lived in Richmond, Maine.
Kandace met the love of her life and future husband Jeff Lord at Richmond High School. They spent 25 wonderful years together and have two beautiful children, Emma and Ethan.
After graduating in 1997, Kandace worked in a variety of music stores. Music was one of Kandace's great joys and passions in life. She then stepped into her incredible gifts with children by working at Southern Kennebec Child Development Corporation. Kandace later opened her own home to caring for children, devoting her love and many years of her life to both her own children and others, passing on to them her big heart and kind spirit. Over the past year, Kandace enjoyed a new role working at Big Lots in Brunswick.
Kandace is survived by her loving husband Jeff and her two beloved children Emma (19) and Ethan (16), as well as Ethan's sweetheart, Abigail (Bee) Blake; her father Gregory Cumming and his wife Penny, of Brunswick; her sister Ara (Barbara) Wood, sibling-in-law David Wood, and nephew Linden Wood, of Lafayette, Colorado; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Albert and Kathy Lord, of Richmond; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jesse and Janice Lord and their children Cyrus and Jocelyn, of Richmond; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
There will be a Celebration of Life Ceremony at The Richmond Grange Hall at 15 Alexander Reed Road in Richmond on Saturday, February 3rd at 1:00 p.m. All are invited to attend and celebrate the life of this amazing woman and presence in the community.
