Susan Marie Adams Read

 Phippsburg, Maine

Susan passed away unexpectedly on Saturday May 22, 2021 at her home while doing yardwork.

Sue was born on October 17, 1951 to Oscar S. and Bertha Mae Adams in Bath, Maine

Susan graduated from Morse High School Class of 1970. She worked on her lobster boat as stern man, then worked at Shaw’s Supermarket for 32 years retiring in March of 2020. She really loved her job and the many people she met.

Susan loved and had many fond memories of growing up, swimming and fishing at the family camp on Mayfield Pond.

Susan married the love of her life James Read on November 17, 1993 at her sister and brother-in-law Duane Lewis residence in Phillips, Maine.

Sue loved bowling in her earlier years and even won a championship with her league which sent them on a trip to Washington D.C. She loved gathering rocks, driftwood, and sea glass that she put in her many rock gardens. She loved being on the water, be it ocean, lake, pond, or river, also sitting in the sun (she did not like to be cold) and looking at fall foliage, generally anything for outdoor activities. Sue loved to bake and cook meals for family and friends. She loved to decorate for holidays and she had a special flair for what looked good inside and out. She really enjoyed a good fire to sit around, she was very generous to all family and friends.  Sue stayed busy raising her children and loved taking care of her youngest grandchildren.

They took many trips together to New Hampshire, camping on the Saco river, camping at Webb Lake and hiking Tumbledown mountain, visiting Prince Edward Island, and staying at camp in Maple Grove kayaking on the river and Lower Pistol Pond, then building their own camp in Phillips, Me.
