Frederick E. Vose Jr.

SOUTH PARIS - Frederick E. Vose Jr., 86, passed away peacefully on May 12th, at the Maine Veterans Home in South Paris, after a long, courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Frederick was born on June 18, 1931, in Marshfield, Maine. He was the son of the late Frederick Vose, Sr. and Thelma Olsen Vose. Frederick shared his life with four siblings: one sister and three brothers.

He is survived by two of his brothers, Roger of Farmington, CT and Dennis of Bath, ME and his sister Patricia of Ohio. He is predeceased by his brother James of Florida.

Frederick attended schools in Marshfield and East Machias, graduating from Washington Academy in the class of 1948. He joined the United States Air Force during the Korean war and retired from it twenty years later. After that, he lived in Massachusetts for ten years, returning to Maine to take a job at the Bath Iron Works, retiring in 1996. Frederick was an avid Red Sox fan, never missing a game on the radio back in the 1940’s and watching them on T.V. later in life. Frederick lived At Sunnybrook in Brunswick before going to the Maine Veterans Home in South Paris in April 2013.

The family would like to send acknowledgment and thanks to all the dedicated employees at the Veterans Home for their exceptional care and compassion for Freddy throughout the final years and days of his life.

There will be no funeral at his request.

Interment will be in the Maine Veterans Cemetery in Augusta on May 31 at 12:00 noon.
