Kay Pierce
RICHMOND - Kay Pierce, 83, passed away unexpectedly on, Wednesday, April 4th after suffering a massive stroke.
She was born in Washington, D.C. on September 30, 1934 the daughter of the late Floyd and Leoda Keeton.
Kay graduated from Anacostia High School, in Washington D.C. She furthered her education attending several schools. The School of Design Couture Bridal Sewing and the Professional Association Custom Clothiers in Massachusetts.
On January 23, 1954, she married Harry Pierce of Statesville, NC. Together they raised 5 children. Kay and Harry just celebrated their 64th Wedding Anniversary.
She moved with her family to Maine from Maryland, in 1972. Purchasing with her husband, Pierce’s Country Store. She established her own Antique business, located in Richmond.
She owned her home-based sewing business, The Loft for many years, designing customized wedding gowns and accessories. Creating exquisite, one-of-a-kind gowns over the years, retiring just a few years ago.
Kay enjoyed spending time with her family. Over the years hosting two exchange students from abroad, who became part of the family.
Her passions were reading, travelling, gourmet cooking, gardening, and sewing. Her amazing quilts, water-color paintings, and drawings were appreciated by all. Over the years, she gifted each member of her family with a precious hand-sewn quilt, designed exclusively for them.
Kay belonged to the Richmond Historical Society. She was instrumental in getting the T.J. Southard statue for the Southard House Museum.
She was predeceased by her daughter Beth Anan and her son-in-law Timothy Reagan.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Harry Pierce of Richmond, ME; daughter, Pamela Reagan, of Waldorf, MD; son, Andrew and his wife Patricia Pierce of Bowdoin, ME; daughter, Jennifer and her husband Tony Sheffler of Hughesville, MD; and son, Robert Pierce of Richmond, ME.
11 Grandchildren: Michael, Brandon, Meghan, Brittany, Marissa, Shawna, Kalena, Matthew, Jared, Nicholas, and Delilah; 7 Great-Grandchildren: Landyn, Layla, Kaylee, Madalynn, Pierce, Colton, and Reid.
Two dearly loved dogs, Daisy and Sophie.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
