Marshall A. Dunn Jr.
BOWDOINHAM - Marshall A. Dunn, Jr. (Marshy) passed away unexpectedly on March 6, 2018 in his home. Marshall was born on December 17, 1947 in Brunswick, Maine to Marshall and Emily (Wallace) Dunn. Marshall was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Myron Dunn; sister, Susan Dunn and half-sister Janice Curtis.
Marshall attended schools in Bowdoinham and graduated from Richmond High School as salutatorian in 1965. He loved and excelled in sports, playing basketball and baseball. He attended the University of Maine at Orono before joining the United States Army in 1967 where he served his country honorably for three years at White Sands Missile Base in New Mexico. He worked for the State of Maine on the stripping crew. Marshall then worked as a structural fitter for 34 years at Bath Iron Works, retiring in 2013.
Marshall was a simple man and had an immense knowledge of facts including the family history and would sit for hours and talk with those close to him. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and bee keeping. He also enjoyed gardening, growing corn and harvesting pumpkins for his family to enjoy. He was an avid Richmond fan attending all sporting events and would travel near and far (slowly) to watch a game. He loved the NY Yankees even though a lot of his family and friends were Red Sox fans. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, Post 132, Richmond, ME
Marshy is survived by his sister, Martha Emmons and husband Ron of Richmond; his half-sister, Dorothy Thibodeau and husband Jerry of Chelsea and his half-brother, Robert Gray and wife Nickie of Van, WV. He also leaves behind his niece, Laurie Dunbar and husband Tom of Richmond; his nephew, Ronald Emmons Jr. and wife Trish of Richmond and their boys Cameron and Brendan, who meant the world to him. He is also survived by his aunt, Dorothy Wallace of Richmond as well as several nieces, nephews and Dunn and Wallace cousins. He also leaves behind the Kendrick boys; Brian, Mark, Rusty, Troy and their families with whom he shared a special friendship.
A graveside service and burial at the Pioneer Cemetery on the White Road in Bowdoinham, Maine will be held on June 22, 2018 at 2:00 pm.
