RANDOLPH - Richard S. “Dick” Weeks, Sr., 94, of Randolph, died on Monday, January 15, 2018 at Maine General Medical Center in Augusta.

Richard was born on January 26, 1923, in Randolph, Maine the son of Merle A. and Cathena (Greene) Weeks. 

He was a lifelong resident of Randolph and Gardiner and attended local schools.  He spent 1 year at the Conservation Corp. Camp in Alfred, then he was employed at Bath Iron Works before enlisting in the Marines on July 16, 1942.  Richard was combat-wounded at Guam and Iwo Jima for which he received two Purple Hearts.  When he returned home married Connie (Morgan) in Gardiner on July 07, 1945.   While he and Connie raised their family, he worked as a clerk at the V.A. Center in Togus, retiring after 35 years. 

Richard was a Life Member of DAV, MOPH, Third Marine Division Association, as well as being a Member of the Masons, Kora Shrine, and Amateur Radio Station Association since 1959.  Dick and Connie spent several winters in Florida, following his retirement.  He enjoyed talking with his HAM (Radio) friends every morning.  For many years he enjoyed wood carving for his family and friends.

Richard was predeceased by his parents, his two sisters; Norma Williams of Gardiner, and Cathena Nelson of Rhode Island, and his grandson Michael Weeks of Arizona

He is survived by Connie, his wife of 72 years, his four children; Richard S. Weeks, Jr and his wife Julie of Arizona, Diane L. Kidder and her husband Jim of Pittston, Roxanne C. Farrell and her husband Ed of Augusta, and Ronnie M. Weeks and his wife Davadell of Lisbon Falls, five grandchildren; Melissa Shiechel of Arizona, Jodi Kidder Weeks and her husband Peter of Pittston, Kari Williams of Chelsea, Joseph M. Weeks and his wife Daphnie of Chelsea, Step-grandson George Allen and his wife Shannon of Lisbon Falls,  great grandchildren; Jared Weeks of Pittston, Avary Abbott of Chelsea,  Zoey Weeks of Chelsea  and Ricky and Emily Allen of Lisbon Falls.

There will be a private graveside service at Maine Veterans' Cemetery in the spring.
