Richmond-Bette L. Horning, 82, of Main St., died after a brief illness on Monday, December 19, 2016 at her home with her family by her side.

She was born in Lowell, Massachusetts on September 12, 1934 the daughter of Henry and Euleula Marston.

Bette worked at Augusta General for many years as a nurse.  She was a foster mother for many children throughout the years.

She enjoyed reading, writing poetry and short stories.  She also enjoyed being the director of the Richmond Golden Oldies.  

Bette was predeceased by her husband Robert Horning and grandson Nathan Horning.  She is survived by her daughter Nancy Cote and her husband Ryan of Dresden, Larry Horning and wife Gina of Greene, Dennis Horning and wife Linda of Texas, brother David Marston and wife Sandra of Florida, 8 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, foster children Susan Thayer-McCausland, Vicki Bragg Russell and Roxanne O'Connor.

Memorial visitation will take place on Friday, December 23rd. From 11am till noon, with a service to follow all at the United Dresden Methodist Church in Richmond.  A gathering will follow at the church hall, all are welcome.
