Martha J Murray
Bath-Martha Jane Murray, 84, passed away March 25, 2016 in Freeport Maine
She was born on July 10, 1931 in Boothbay Harbor daughter of Lewis and Dorothy Stone.
Martha was a member of the Bath City council for two terms and life member of Grace Episcopal Church of Bath.
She was a den mother for the Brownies and Girl Scouts, a member of the PTA at Mitchell School and a member of the Emblem Club at the Bath Elks and volunteering for the Bath food bank, always volunteered for any benefit.
Martha loved gardening, reading, knitting and bowling with friends.
She was known to be adventurous and enkoyed white water rafting. Martha enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, family, and going to country fairs in the summer in Maine, She loved to travel to see her sister Lois’ home, whom resides in California, going to Boston with her friends, going on cruise ships, being at the camp with her children in the summer on Damariscotta and Moxi lake boating, the beach and being a home maker.
She also enjoyed being active with her graduate class of 1949 at Morse High School.
She was employed at the Brunswick Naval Air Station for a few years, then to J Brush in Topsham. After a short stint as a homemaker, she went back to work at Arrow Hart for 26 years until her retirement. At Arrow Hart she was also vice president of the workers union. Later working part time for Bath City Hall.
Martha was predeceased by her husband Charles E. Murray Jr., parents Lewis and Dorothy Stone. She is survived by daughter Cheryl Farnham and son in- law Rick of West Bath, son Michael Murray and daughter in –law Bonnie of Wiscasset, their three sons: grandson Nathon Murray and his wife Jen Murray, their children: great granddaughter Kloe and great grandson Kaden of Dresden, grandson James Murray and his wife Ashlee of Wiscasset great grandson Ryan Murray of Wiscasset, Son Timothy Murray, and daughter in-law Audrey Murray of West Bath, their three children: granddaughters Brooke, Caryn and grandson Alec Murray all of Bath.
She is also survived by her sister Lois Contino of California and her children: Nephew Tom Contino and Nephew Tony Contino of California, brother Lewis Stone Jr., and wife Joline of Bath and their sons: Nephews Jeff Stone of Jefferson and Calvin Stone of Bath.
A graveside service will take place later in spring.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the funeral home to help defray funeral cost.
