AUGUSTA – Bruce Trembly, M.D., 85, died on September 8, 2015 at the Maine Veterans’ Home in Augusta due to Alzheimer’s Disease. 

He was born on October 1, 1929, the son of Frank and Dorothy (MacLennan) Trembly. 

Bruce was a member of the Dresden Historical Society, as well as the Friends of Swan Island. 

He was an avid sailor and enjoyed the relentless labor of maintaining wooden boats.  He also enjoyed classical music, fly fishing, skiing, traveling, and the company of dear friends.  He had a lifetime love of learning.  His sailing adventures sent him cruising throughout New England, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, Bermuda, and his ultimate adventure to Northern Labrador on his sailing vessel, Glad Tidings. 

Bruce served two years in the Army and was Honorably discharged. 

He graduated from Yale Medical School.  He was a well-respected neurosurgeon practicing at Thayer and Seton Hospital, and later retiring from Togus VA Hospital. 

Bruce was predeceased by his parents, and a sister, Susan Noecher. 

He is survived by his sons, Stuart Trembly of New Hampshire; Philip Trembly of South Carolina; Mark and Susan Trembly of South Carolina; Dan and Sandra  Trembly of Belgrade, ME; Jason and Janet Trembly of Oakland, ME; six grandchildren, Scott, Thomas, Caroline, John, Chris, and Matt Trembly; and stepmother, Janet Butterbaugh.
