Geraldine Dick

GARDINER – Geraldine (Gerry) Dick passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, February 1, 2015, after a courageous, 8-year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.  She had just celebrated her 82nd birthday.

Geraldine was born in Gardiner on January 11, 1933, the daughter of Charles L. and Esther Milligan Williams.  She married Thomas Dick on February 3, 1951.  Gerry worked as a secretary at Gardiner Shoe for many years.  In 1967, she accepted a secretarial position with Governor Kenneth Curtis’s administration.  Her career with the Governor’s Office spanned 20 years and three consecutive Governors’ administrations, working for Ken Curtis, James Longley, and Joseph Brennan.  Gerry loved good food, cooking, spending time with family, summers at camp, fishing, gardening, and helping her husband, Tom, with his latest building/renovation project.

Geraldine is survived by her only daughter, Kimberley Nixon, and only grandchild, Cassie Nixon, both of Gardiner; her brother, Charles Williams; and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Thomas W. Dick, and her sister, Christina Hopkins.

There will be an intimate graveside service at Oak Grove Cemetery in Gardiner in the spring.

Special thanks go out to the caring staff at the Alzheimer’s Care Center in Gardiner and those of Wholistic Home Care in Gardiner.
