Gabrielle Magnan MacMillan
BRUNSWICK – Gabrielle Magnan MacMillan, 98, formerly of Auburn, MA, passed away on Saturday January 31, 2015, in Brunswick. She was born in St. Malo, Quebec, on September 3, 1916, the daughter of Albert and Bertha Robidas.
Gabrielle came to Worcester, Massachusetts, at the age of 9 and was raised and educated there. She married Roland Magnan on November 24, 1938. They had two children, Claire Holmblad and Roland Magnan. Gabrielle was a homemaker for most of her life but also worked as a bookkeeper for her husband’s trucking business. She was a member of the Emblem Club and was an active volunteer at the Senior Center in Auburn, Massachusetts.
May 1st, 1975, her husband, Roland, died. She later married Charles MacMillan in 1977. Charles passed away in March of 1993. In 2000 she moved to Brunswick, Maine, to be close to her daughter. Her volunteer activities continued in Brunswick at People Plus and also at the Mid Coast Hunger soup kitchen. It was a joy for her to be part of the “Tuesday” working staff at the soup kitchen.
Gabrielle is also predeceased by a son, Roland Magnan, two sisters, Rachel Moore and Leona Kasper, and a brother, Dell Robidas.
She is survived by a daughter, Claire Holmblad and husband Roy of Brunswick; siblings Claire Budzinski of Worcester; Eve Bryan of Florida; Florence Duval and Daniel Robidas of California; stepson Charles MacMillan and his wife Jan of Auburn, MA; grandchildren David Holmblad and his wife Marcy; Duane Holmblad; Renae LeMay and her husband Robert; Ross Magnan and his wife Amy; Jeffrey Magnan; great-grandchildren Anna Holmblad, Seth Holmblad, Ross Magnan Jr., Arielle Kephart; and great-great grandchild, Michaela Bjork. She also leaves several nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass will be held at St. Joseph Church in Auburn, MA on Friday, February 20th, 2015, at 11am, with a reception to be announced following the mass.
