Jean L. Lemieux

Jean L. Lemieux, 92, died on Saturday, June 21st, 2014 at Maine General Rehabilitation and nursing care at Glenridge. She was born in Calais, Maine on April 29th, 1922 the daughter of the late Kathleen M. Thompson.

Jean was a graduate of Calais Academy in 1940. Their class motto was Life begins in '40”.

She was a member of St. Barnabas Church in Augusta.She worked at Western Union after moving to Augusta in her early 20s with her mother. There she made many of her life-long friends. Jean also worked at the YMCA in Augusta at the reception desk and the Youth Teen Center for many years.

She had many fond and funny memories of working with Augusta's teens. She worked at Augusta Supply when she met Roger Lemieux, and the rest is history.

Mrs. Lemieux was predeceased by her husband, Roger, and her stepdaughter, Suzanne Rafferty.

She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie-Jean and her husband, Thomas Merrill of S. Gardiner and her stepson, Robert (Bob) Lemieux of Yarmouth. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: grandson Jonathan and his wife Lindsay , of Hampton, NH; their daughters Olivia and  Evelyn, grandson Thomas Chad and his wife Shandelle, their sons Brock T. and Lucien T. Merrill; grandson Joseph B. and his wife Maria and their son parker B., and their stepchildren Isabelle and Isaac.

A special thank you would like to be extended by the family to the staff at the Woodlands in Hallowell and to all the staff at “The Cove for their wonderful care, and also for the kindness they showed to her and her family. Also, many thanks to Maine General Hospice and the support staff.

At Mrs. Lemieux's request, there will be no visiting hours of funeral service. She will be buried at a later date in Calais Cemetery.
