Richmond-Leon “PA” E Severy, 78, of the River Rd. passed away peacefully on October 13, 2014 at Togus, surrounded by loved ones.

Born in Augusta, January 2, 1936, the son of Wallace A. Severy and B. Madelyn (White) Severy.

Leon attended Cony High School and spent his childhood working on his grandfather’s farm. After high School, Leon joined the Navy from 1957-1959. With an honorable discharge, Leon went to work for the DOT until his retirement.

Leon was a lifetime member of the NRA who enjoyed westerns, hunting, gunsmithing, spending time with his great-grandchildren and Friday night coffee at his home with friends and family.

Leon is survived by his daughter Jane Alison Pierce and her husband Shawn Pierce, son Andrew L. Severy and his partner Chris Shute, and son Eric E. Severy and his partner Victoria Rea. Grandchildren Jasmine R. Papa, Michael W. Papa and wife Jennifer, Danielle M. Pierce, Katelyn R. Pierce, Brittany R. Bran, Andrew Tyler Severy, Hailey M. Severy, and Ethan E. Severy. As well as seven great-grandchildren and his surrogate family Lynn and Jim Bellow.

Leon will be greatly missed by all.

A gathering for family and friends to share will take place on Tuesday, October 21^st at 11am at the funeral home. A burial will follow with military honors at the Maine Veterans Cemetery Mt. Vernon Rd. Augusta, at 1pm.
