DONALD RAYMOND MORRISSETTE
Augusta-Donald Raymond Morrissette, 88, passed away on December 24, 2011 at the Maine Veterans Home, Augusta, where he was a resident for 2 years and 8 months.
He was born August 5, 1923 at 13 Rowell St., Madison, ME, the son of Albert Joseph and Alida Marie (Campeau) Morrissette.
Mr. Morrissette attended schools in Madison dropping out of high school in his senior year. He achieved his high school diploma through Adult Ed at Waterville High School in 1973 at the age 50.
He started working in Madison Woolen Mill at age 16 and continued there until he was drafted into the Army at age nineteen to serve in World War 11, stationed in Florida, then New Guinea, from there to the Southern Philippines Luzon. For a short time he was stationed in Japan with the Army Occupational Forces. He returned home in December 1945. On returning home he took a course on Auto Body Works and Auto Mechanics through the GI Bill. He then went to work at Great Northern Paper Co. in Madison until 1969. He next worked in lighting sales for different companies, forming his own Padon Commercial and Industrial Lighting Co., retiring in 2001 at age 78. In 1976 he became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints which became the busy highlight of his life.
He is predeceased by his parents and his brothers, Lucien Aime, Roland F., and Maurice R. Morrissette. He was predeceased by his first wife Myrtle Marie (Gould) with whom he had five living children. Maurice Donald, and his wife, Cecilia Ann (Corriveau), of South Paris; ME; Stephen Jeffrey, and his wife, Leslie (Bartlett), of Gorham, NH; Laurier Richard, and his wife, Janet Gail (Harper), of Hallowell, ME; Andrew Raymond, and his wife Cari (Rambuyon), of Mechanic Falls, ME; Lisa Marie, and her husband, Gregory A. Rabe, Fairfield Center, ME. In this family line he has seven grandchildren; Scott and Sherry Lynn Morrissette, Carrol Ann Morrissette, Joel and Lee Morrissette, Craig, Kyle and Katie Rabe. He is survived by his present wife, Patricia Ann (Hawkins-Lessard); and four step-children; Laureli Lessard and her husband, Robert Knowles of North Monmouth, ME; Peter R. Lessard and his wife, Lori (Camaioni), of Cottageville, S C; Barbara L., and her husband, James Dinger of Sugar Grove, OH; Stephanie J., and her husband, Michael Huntsman of Shelley, ID. Add to that six step-grandchildren, Mary K. Lessard-Caswell, Montana Lessard, Kayleigh, Keegan, Kamden, and Karissa Huntsman and 10 great grandchildren.
There will be no visiting hours. A celebration of life will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints Hasson St. Farmingdale, Maine, on January 7, 2012 at 1pm. Burial will take place at a later date in the family plot in Madison, Maine.
