Charles E. Caton

AUGUSTA – Charles E. Caton, 81, long time resident of Wiscasset, died on July 26th, 2011 at the Maine Veterans Home.

He was born on June 14th, 1930 in Wiscasset, the son of Maurice and Sadie (Leeman) Caton.

Charles attended Wiscasset schools. After High School he drilled wells for a couple of years before joining the U.S. Navy from 1951 till 1955. He married June French on June 21st, 1954.

He worked for several years doing construction and then went on to work as a truck driver for M.W. Sewall and Co., retiring after 35 years.

Charles was a member of the Wiscasset American Legion for 51 years; S.A.M.; and Wiscasset Rod and Gun Club.

He enjoyed spending time with his friends, family, and especially his grandchildren.

Charles is survived by his beloved wife June Caton; daughters Terrie Caton Banker, Linda Caton Thompson, both of Wiscasset; grandchildren Michael Thompson and his wife Heidi of Richmond, Jason Banker of Augusta, Jamie Wade and her husband Rob of Vassalboro; Kacy Banker and her husband Clint Gold of Wiscasset; great-grandchildren Hannahmarie Caton Thompson of Richmond, Alana Emery Wade of Vassalboro; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers Maurice Jr., Alton; sisters Virginia, Eleanor, Doris; and an infant son at birth.

Family and friends are invited to a graveside service on (Date) at (Time) at Woodlawn Cemetery, Birch Point Road, Wiscasset. In lieu of flowers donations are preferred to Maine Veteran’s Home, Alzheimer’s Unit, 310 Cony Road, Augusta, ME 04330.
