Leland S. Smith
LEWISTON – Leland ‘Lee’ S. Smith, 62, of Litchfield, died on July 24th, 2011 at Central Maine Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on November 8th, 1948 in Richmond, the son of Leland and Carrie (Johnson) Smith.
Lee attended Richmond Schools and then went on to join the U.S. Army.
He married Vivian Thebeau on July 30th, 1968 and she was the love of his life, battles and all. Prior to being long time residents of Litchfield they had lived in CA., NH., and Las Vegas, NV.
Lee worked as a worm digger, worked in the woods with his father, worked in Bates Mill, he also owned his own janitorial business, but the place he called home was when he was a poker dealer in Las Vegas, NV., and upon moving back to Maine he opened his own pool hall called Lee’s Billiards and Arcade in Litchfield.
He was lifetime member of the Lisbon V.F.W. Post 9459.
Lee is survived by his beloved wife Vivian; his parents; sons Ronald Smith and wife Jody of Jacksonville, Fl., Young Lee Smith of Litchfield; and daughter Michelle Smith of Litchfield; grandchildren Jessie, Stephanie Smith of Fl., Sheri Barrett of ME., Steven, Dustyn Griffin of Morbly, Missouri; sisters Deborah Howe and husband Bobby, Elena Carter and husband Mark both of Richmond, ME, Lori Demers and husband Lance of Fl.; cat Mad Max; dog Krist; and many loved ones.
Lee loved his family first and poker second.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, July 26th, from 4 PM to 6 PM at Kincer Funeral Home, 130 Pleasant Street, Richmond. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at the Funeral Home at 4 PM with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Alexander Reed Road, Richmond. Rev. Roger Merrill will be officiating. All are invited after the funeral to the Richmond Sportsmen’s Club, Alexander Reed Road.
