Hubert “Hugh” W. Adams
Hallowell-Hubert W. Adams, 94, of Hallowell and formerly Richmond, died on July 14, 2011 at Maine Veterans Home, Augusta.
He was born on May 7, 1917 in Woodsville, N.H. the son of Willis and Marion Adams. He attended Dover New Hampshire Schools and also Wentworth Institute of Technology, graduating class of 1938.
Hugh proudly served his country in the Army Air Corp during WWII. He was a member of the Richmond American Legion and Village lodge 26 Masons of Bowdoinham.
He worked as an electrical engineer for over 31 years at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.
Hugh was very versatile and he had many interests; including wood working, bee keeping, photography and metal detecting to name a few.
Hugh was predeceased by his parents, brother Francis Adams, sisters Barbara Larrabee, Eleanor Lance, and Helen Frost. He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years Marjorie Adams of Hallowell, daughter Betty Ann Stubbs and her husband Robert of Moneta, Virginia, son Hugh Adams of Dover, New Hampshire, brother John Adams and his wife Laura of Dover, New Hampshire, Step daughter Janice Ashcroft and her husband Richard of Richmond, 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, one step grandson, several nieces and nephews.
Per Hugh’s request there will not be a viewing. Family and friends are invited to a graveside service on Saturday, July 23rd at 2pm at Forest Hill Cemetery, Dresden with military honors.
The family would like to thank the Veterans Home and staff for their wonderful care during Hugh’s stay.
