Shirley M. Seekins
BATH — Shirley Mae (McKenna) Seekins 79 of Bath, died after her most recent illness and complications on Monday April 11, 2011 in Freeport.
She was born September 22, 1931 in Rumford, ME the daughter of Mary (Gaudette) McKenna and Edward McKenna. She was a graduate of Morse High School, and was Co-Class Agent with Josie Underwood for The Alumni Class of 1950. She devoted her life to her family and her profession. She was a homemaker, Mother, Nana, Billing Clerk for many Doctors’ offices and Chief Technical Clerk for Dept 87 at Bath Iron Works. She was admired by all who knew her for her wonderful witty sense of humor, her incredible perseverance for studying her genealogy, and her details in contributing to the planning all 1950 Alumni Class Reunions. She enjoyed traveling to Prince Edward Island, Canada in search of her heritage. Her commitment, love and her devotion were to her two daughters and her grandchildren. She especially enjoyed the holidays when her family would gather together for celebrations. She was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
She is survived by her two daughters: Carla J. Seekins Whitehead and Lynn E. Seekins Galvan of Bath, ME: Three grandchildren: Celia C. Whitehead, Kai H. Whitehead, Aidan M. Galvan, her sister Phyllis (McKenna) Goulette, and her sister-in-law Dorothy (Johanson) McKenna of Bath.
She was predeceased by one sister: Ada (McKenna) Brown and one brother: Joseph McKenna.
A Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday May 25, 2011 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bath. Following burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, friends are welcome to join the family and share memories of Shirley at the home of Carla Seekins Whitehead.
