George “Pop” W. Garneau
Richmond-George W. Garneau, 89, of Church St. died on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Augusta.
He was born on February 22, 1921 in Woonsocket, R.I. the son of Adelard and Florida (Godin) Garneau.
George worked for Draper Corp. as a Cast Iron Worker for over thirty years, retiring in the late fifties.
He was a past member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Richmond.
Everyone in town new George from keeping the town clean at the local baseball field and other areas around the town.
He enjoyed fishing, watching stock car racing and being with family.
George was predeceased by his wife Rita Anderson Garneau, son’s William and Jerry Garneay, 8 brothers and one sister. He is survived by his daughters Theresa Parlin and her husband Silas of Richmond, Rose Deloge of Woonsocket, Helen Jacob and sister Florence Frankhart, several grandchildren, great grandchildren and recently was blessed with a fifth generation in the family.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Saturday, October 30th from 2 to 4pm at the funeral home with a funeral service being held at 3pm with Angela Boivin officiating. Burial will take place on Monday, November 1st at 1pm at the St. John the Baptist Cemetery Chapel in Bellingham, Massachusetts.
