Richard L. Crocker

Chelsea-Richard L. Crocker, 58, of the Nelson Rd. died on Friday, May 7, 2010 at home after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Augusta on December 3, 1951 the son of Melvin and Ella Crocker Sr.

Richard worked locally through out the years, most recently for Wal Mart. He also worked at one of his favorite places as a kitchen steward for the Samoset Resort in Rockport.

Richard was a member of the American Legion Post 205 in Augusta and the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Farmingdale for the past 20years. He was also a youth director for 10 years at the church.

He had over 300 hours of volunteer services at Togus. Richard collected and distributed toys for little ones program for over 10 years.

Richard was predeceased by his father Melvin C. Crocker Sr., brother’s Mevlin C. Crocker Jr., Robert L. Crocker, Terry Crocker and a sister Sherry Crocker. He is survived by his wife of 26 years Brenda McKenna Crocker of Chelsea, son Richard Crocker Jr., of Arkansas, daughter Amie Butler and her husband Jeff Riegol of Augusta, Step son Jeffrey Glazier and his wife Vanessa of Waterville, mother Ella Crocker of Mt. Vernon, sister Sandra Davidson of West Gardiner, brothers Eugene Crocker of New Jersey, Steven Crocker of Gardiner, Dennis Crocker of Louisiana, grandchildren Angela Butler, Suzanna Butler, Tallon Glazier, Matrim Glazier, several cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

A funeral service will take place at the Farmingdale Seventh Day Adventist Church at 2 pm on Monday, May 10th with Pastor Farley officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Kennebec County honor guard. Following the service a gathering will take place at the church hall.
