Jane Dudley Newhall
Brunswick-Jane Dudley Newhall died on April 29, 2010 at Midcoast Hospital in Brunswick after a short illness. She was born in Hanover NH on December 9,1935 the daughter of Helen Johnson Dudley and Robert Mills Dudley. She is survived by her daughter Janice Linehan and grandsons Benjamin and Eric of St. Louis and her son Fred Newhall and grandchildren Madeline and Garrett of Massachusetts. She is also survived by her sister Ann DeWitt of Friendship ME, her brother John Dudley of Bath ME and her brother William Dudley of St. Louis as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Fred Newhall and her son Robert Newhall.
Jane attended school in Bowdoinham and graduated from Brunswick high school in 1954. She graduated from the University of Maine in 1958 and was married in 1958. Her degree in social work led to positions in California and Maine. After years as a homemaker, Jane taught Head Start children in Massachusetts and in the Augusta area.. In the years after her husband's death she lived in Sidney and in Topsham where she cared for her aging mother. The first Parish Church in Brunwick was the center of her life in her later years. Her church activities included working as a social service provider, a mentor to young people and a coordinator with Tedford Shelter and Outreach Committee chair. .Jane was a caring active person in all phases of her life.
A celebration of her life was held on May 1, 2010 at the First Parish Church in Brunswick ME.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Benevolence Fund of the First Parish Church, Cleaveland St. Brunswick ME or to the Topsham Public library. An interment service will be held in the summer at the Sawtelle cemetery in Sidney ME.
