Richmond-Alvin D. Acord, 74, of Tre Ln. died on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 after a long illness at his residence.

He was born in West Virginia on 9/23/1935 the son of Wirt and Mary Lynn Acord.

Al was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed reading, gambling and spending time with his children.

Al proudly served his country in the United States Navy retiring in 1973. He later worked as a marine electrician at B.I.W. retiring in 1996.

He was predeceased by his wife Joyce, his parents and many brothers and sisters. Al is survived by his wife Barbara Acord of Richmond, children Michael Acord, Russell Acord, Timothy Acord, Stephen Acord, Christopher Acord, Rebecca Acord, Barbara Doucette, step children Jerry Gilbert, Phillip Gilbert and Kerri Jo Smith, 19 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday March 19th from 6 to 8pm at the funeral home. A funeral service will take place on Saturday March 20th at 11am at the funeral home. Burial will take place in the spring. A gathering will follow at the Railway Café Lounge, Richmond.
