Venise F. Lachance

BRUNSWICK — Venise F. Lachance, 89, of Brunswick died Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009, of cancer.

She was born in Richmond, the daughter of Benjamin Owen and Yvonne Dostie. She was educated in Richmond schools.

She was married to the late Irenee “Tiny” Lachance for 56 years.

For many years, she worked as a fancy stitcher for numerous area shoe shops, retiring in the late 1970s.

She enjoyed beano, camping, card games, dining out, family gatherings, yard sales and Sunday drives.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by three brothers, Donald, Chester and William Emmons.

She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Knox-Manley and significant other Pamela L. Manley of Sebec, and Yvonne (Vonnie) Drown and her husband, the late Douglas Drown, of Bartlett, Tenn; a son, Scott J. Lachance and his wife, Caroline, of Biddeford; a sister, Bertha Sylvain of Freeport; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Her family wishes to thank the loving and special neighbors who made it possible for her to remain at home.

A committal service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, at the new Veterans Cemetery on Mount Vernon Road in Augusta. Flowers can be sent to the chapel prior to the service.
