Richard L. (Dickie) Ames Sr.
Wiscasset-Richard L. Ames Sr., 72, of the Old Dresden Rd. passed away Friday, March 6, 2009 at Parkview Hospital in Brunswick after a long Illness.
He was born on May 25, 1936 in West Bowdoin to Chester and Margarite Ames.
Dickie was an avid hunter, enjoyed reading watching western movies, and nature programs, as well as watching NASCAR Races. He collected match box cars and Dale Ernhart Sr. memorabilia.
He loved being outside doing anything and spending time with his grandchildren.
Dickie was an amazing man, hard working and always made sure his family had everything they needed. He would do anything for anyone, even of he didn’t know them, and asked for nothing in return. He was always ready with a joke to make everyone laugh and smile.
He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and our hero.
Dickie is survived by his wife of 47 years Martha, children Sally Marshall and husband Larry all of Dresden, Kim Miller and husband John of Hampton, VA., Mark Ames of South Portland, Richard Ames Jr., of Brunswick, 7 grandchildren, 1 great grandson, 6 brothers and sisters, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter Lisa Ann, one brother and two sisters.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 11th at 6pm at Kincer Funeral Home 130 Pleasant St. Richmond, Me 04357.
