BARBARA SHIRLEY TRUSSELL EVERSON
DRESDEN - Barbara Shirley Trussell Everson, 83, of Dresden, died Tuesday, November 11, 2008, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta, following a brief illness.
She was born in Dresden, Maine May 12, 1925, daughter of Wallace and Nena Trussell.
Barbara attended school in Dresden and graduated from Bridge Academy in 1943. She worked briefly at Commonwealth Shoe in Gardiner, later devoting her time as wife, mother and homemaker.
Barbara married Merton H. Everson on November 1, 1947 in Dresden. They remained in Dresden their entire married life, until his death in 1994. Barbara spent the past 5 years at Richmond Eldercare in Richmond, Maine.
Barbara enjoyed knitting and crocheting, reading, crossword puzzles, and visits from her family. She especially enjoyed going out to eat with her sisters to celebrate their birthdays. She also enjoyed playing Bingo with her friends at Richmond Eldercare.
Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Merton in 1994, brothers Roland and Donald Trussell, both of Pittston, sister Marjorie (Trussell) Paulsen of Oregon on October 25, 2008, and sister-in-law Marjory Trussell of Pittston in June 2008.
She is survived by her son, David of Dresden, daughter, Shirley and her husband David Storkson, Sr. of Dresden, sisters Norma Mansir of Gardiner; Pearl Golden of Pittston, Doris Swasey of Dresden and Clarice Taylor of Dresden and Lake Alfred, Fl., brother Roger Trussell of Haines City, Fl; sisters-in-law Eleanor Everson of Dresden, and Emily Trussell of Pittston; three step-grandchildren Lisa Allen of Augusta, David Storkson, Jr. and wife Heidi of Pittston, and Laurie Geroux and husband Michael of Chelsea, and three great-grand children Amber Allen, Joshua Allen and Justin Geroux. She also leaves behind many cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude and thanks to the nursing staff at MaineGeneral Medical Center, the staff at Augusta Rehabilitation Facility, and especially to the staff at Richmond Eldercare for the excellent care and kindness provided to Barbara and family.
There will be no visiting hours at the request of the family. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 15, at Kincer Funeral Home, 130 Pleasant Street, Richmond at 2p.m. Burial will follow in the Forest Hill Cemetery, Dresden, beside her husband.
