Pastor Edgar “Alan” Kipp
Pink Hill, NC – Pastor Alan Kipp, 67, of Pink Hill died Feb. 11, 2008 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville, NC.
Born December 4, 1940 in Sharon, CT to Richard and Elizabeth Kipp, he had resided in Pink Hill for the last 18 months, moving there from Dresden, Maine. He was a veteran of the U.S Army, serving from 1958 – 1961 with a deployment to Korea.
Prior to retiring in August of 2006, he was Senior Pastor at Dresden Community Church in Dresden, Maine for 26 years. He demonstrated his love for God by serving the community with a heart of compassion for all people. He also had a soft spot for stray cats. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, archery and skeet shooting.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Pastor Carol A. Kipp, of Pink Hill; three sons, Michael A. Kipp and his wife, Jenny, of Dresden, Jeffrey W. Kipp and his wife, Erin, of Portsmouth, NH, and Richard B. Kipp of Westbrook, ME; three grandchildren, Matthew A. Kipp of Bristol, CT, Benjamin Kipp of Portsmouth, NH, and Julie Kipp of Dresden, several step-grandchildren and a sister, Sandra Kipp, of Puntagorda, FL.
Visiting hours will be Sat. February 16th from 6 – 9 pm at Kincer Funeral Home. A “Celebration of Life” service will be held Sunday, February 17th at 2 pm at Dresden Community Church, 633 Gardiner Rd., Dresden. Burial with military honors will be in the Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mount Vernon Rd., Augusta on Tuesday, February 19th at 1pm with Military Honors.
