Brunswick – Joseph L. “Roger” Despres, 70, of Bowdoinham died July 7th at Mid Coast Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on May 8, 1937 in Brunswick, the son of Albert and Cecile (Gamache) Despres.

He was educated in Brunswick schools and went on to proudly serve his country in the US Army during the Korean War. Before retiring, he worked at Bath Iron Works for 19 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years Angelia “Jean” Despres; son Mark Despres Sr. of Auburn; daughter Theresa Overmiller and husband Larry of Augusta; brothers Leo Despres and wife Priscilla of Brunswick, Maurice Despres of Auburn; stepsons Donald W. Munsey of Portsmouth, VA, Gary Munsey of Pepperell, Bill Munsey and wife Sharon of Portsmouth, VA, Gary and wife Jan Munsey (RELATION)

Several grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday from 6 to 8 PM at Kincer Funeral Home. A funeral service will held on FRIDAY at 11 AM at the funeral home. Committal service to follow at the new Maine Veterans Cemetery with military honors.
