Esther M. Payne
Brunswick-Esther M. Payne, 77, of Pejepscot Terrace, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, January 26, 2007 at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick.
She was born in Woolwich on September 22, 1929 the daughter of Chester and Velma (Bailey) Grover. Esther graduated from local schools, the class of 47’
Esther married her beloved husband of 56 years, Maxwell Payne in 1951.
Esther was the past President of the Golden Oldies, Missionary President, Member of the Card Ministry, Secretary and Treasurer of the Church, Sunday School Teacher, and a 40 year member of the Church of the Nazarene in Brunswick.
She enjoyed many things; cooking, knitting, playing the organ, card games skip ball and slaughter to name a few. However, she particularly enjoyed being a wife, mother, grandmother, touching and caring for as many people as possible, she was truly a giving lady.
Esther was predeceased by her parents, brother Chester Grover Jr., and Sister Mildred “Dolly” Grover.
She is survived by her husband Maxwell Payne of Brunswick, son James Payne and life partner Anthonie Labrie of Westbrook, Max Payne Jr., and his wife Janice of Lisbon Falls, daughter Annette Almy and husband Wayne of Durham, brother Paul Grover of Wiscasset, sister Kay Torrey of Topsham and Florida, 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, January 30th at 10am at the Church of the Nazarene McKeen St. Brunswick. Burial will follow at the New Maine Veterans Cemetery Mt. Vernon Rd. Augusta.
