Edward G. Melanson
Topsham-Edward G. Melanson, 85, of River Rd. Bowdoinham passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2006 at Amenity Manor.
He was born on April 25, 1921 in Corberrie, Nova Scotia, the son of Peter and Alma (Amirault) Melanson.
Although he spent a lifetime as a carpenter, Ed spent 4 years in the Canadian Navy serving on the HMCS Joliette and HMS Nipigon Naval Ships. He also worked for the National Research Council in Ottawa, co-owned Melanson Brothers Construction in Wilbraham, Massachusetts and Friendship Motor Inn in Old Orchard Beach.
Ed enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, gardening and just being an outdoorsman.
He was predeceased by his parents and 5 siblings. Ed was survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Corinne Melanson of Topsham, daughter Gail Shears of Fairport, New York, granddaughter Kimberly Shears of Middletown, Connecticut, brother John Melanson and his wife Verna of Canada, several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, November 20th from 4 to 6pm at Kincer Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, November 21st at 11am at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Richmond.
