Pelahija Tarasenko
Richmond-Pelahija Ponomarenko Tarasenko, 83, of Alexander-Reed Rd. passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2006 at the Hospice House in Auburn.
She was born in the Ukrain on October 17, 1922 the daughter of Serhij and Motrona Puholwko.
Pelahija enjoyed gardening and her flowers.
She arrived in the United States in 1950 from Germany, her family escaping communism.
Pelahija worked in assembly at Clarostat in Richmond for many years.
She was predeceased by her parents, first husband Semen Ponomarenko, and second husband Pawlo Tarasenko. Pelahija is survived by her children Boris Ponomarenko and his wife Karin of Westbrook, Eugenia Canterbury and her husband Bob of Wisconsin, sisters Kathrina Samarsky of New York, Anna Mychalczuk of New York, grandchildren Laurissa and Alisa Ponomarenko, Dan, Mike, and Steve Canterbury, and 12 great grandchildren.
A funeral Service will take place on Friday, August 18th at 9am at St. Alexander Nevsky Orthodox Church, Richmond. Burial will follow in Richmond Cemetery.
