Opal S. Pickett
RICHMOND -- Opal S. Pickett, 101, of Lincoln Street passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2006, at the Maine Veterans' Home in Augusta.
She was born in Upton, Wyo., on July 26, 1904, the daughter of Otis and Clara (West) Sheldon.
Opal was a member of AARP. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, raising her 11 children, keeping house, and raising half the town of Richmond. Opal also worked as a school teacher in Wyoming in earlier years.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Nelson Pickett, in 1951; and son Walter Pickett. Opal is survived by children Catherine Pickett of Wyoming, Nancy Havens of Texas, Anita Meserve of Richmond, Cora Gardner of Richmond, Clara Trussell of Pittston, Nelson Pickett of Wyoming, Orrin Pickett of Wyoming, Richard Pickett of Richmond, Donald Pickett of Pittston and Peter Pickett of Richmond; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, July 10, from 1 to 2 p.m., with a funeral service commencing at 2 p.m., at Kincer Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Richmond Cemetery.
