Verlyn E. Thayer

Brunswick-Verlyn Edna Thayer, 74, of High St. Bath passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at Mid Coast Hospital.

She was born March 7, 1932. Daughter of Walter and Lillian (Dunbar) Desjardins of Hampden, Maine.

She married John Walter Thayer Jr. of Bath on November 10, 1952. She helped her husband build three houses where they made one of the houses their home to raise their three children.

She loved to go fishing, hunting, camping, walking her beloved beagle, Abigale and spending her vacations at the family cottage on New Meadows or at her son’s camp in Greenville.

She retired from Stinson Canning Co. after 37 years.

She was predeceased by her husband John Walter Thayer Jr., April 22, 2006, her parents and her brother Orel Desjardins of Bowdoin.

She is survived by her children, John W. Thayer III of North Bath, daughter Sandra Sleeper and her husband Mark of Woolwich, daughter Paula Arsenault and her husband Mark of Arrowsic, sisters Pauline Lillis and Violet Higgins of Syracuse, NY, sister Lillian Bouvair of New Hampshire, brother Roland Desjardins of Sabattus, brother Russell Desjardins of Bath, granddaughter Melissa Sleeper of Wiscasset, grandson Mark Sleeper Jr. and his wife Anna of Wiscasset, grandson Justin Thayer and his wife Mandy of Bath, grandson Mason Thayer of Bath and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 20th at 2pm at the 1st Baptist Church 851 Washington St. Bath with Pastor Rolfe officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

In Verlyn’s memory donations may be made to the 1st Baptist Church.
