Laura Anna Parent Ross

West Gardiner – Laura Anna Parent Ross died after a long illness, on Monday, February 20, 2006 at her home in West Gardiner surrounded by her family.

Laura was born August 30, 1926, daughter of Theodore and Mabel Parent, in Drummond, Canada and grew up in Eaton and Houlton Maine. She lived most recently in Litchfield, Maine.

Laura was a professional level seamstress who enjoyed making clothes for many friends and family and quilts for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook and baker and enjoyed traveling, knitting mittens and creating craft projects. She discovered an untapped talent for oil painting at the age of 65 and painted many pictures for friends and family.

Laura was a long standing member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and held many positions over the years. She was in service of her fellow man through many of her positions and continued to serve by helping those in need even when not called to do so.

Laura is predeceased by the parents, Mabel and Theodore (Ted) Parent; her husband, Olie W. Ross (97); Alice M. Lane (03); Daniel T. Ross (05) and Sandra A. Lane (05).

She is survived by brothers – Almon Parent of Texas; Herbert Parent of Houlton, Maine; sisters - Rosy Landry of North Carolina and Patsy Blinn of North Carolina; children – Nancy Tarbox of Winthrop, ME; Thaddeus of Augusta, ME; Lorelei Erskine of South Portland, ME; Martha Peterson of Provo, Utah; Rebecca Dempsey of Riverton, Utah; and Hattie Fletcher of West Gardiner, ME; most loving sister-in-law – Grace Ross-Campbell of Belgrade, ME; 31 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be held at Kincer Funeral Home in Richmond on Friday, February 24 from 6-8pm; and funeral services will be held at the Latter-Day Saint chapel on Hasson Street, Farmingdale on Saturday at 10:00 am.

Donations to the Cancer Research Foundation; 1 Main St., Topsham, ME 04086, may be given in Laura’s name in lieu of flowers is you so desire.
