Mildred A. “Bobo” Knight
Richmond-Mildred A. Knight of Front St. died on Thursday, January 26, 2006 at Maine General Medical Center in Augusta after a brief illness.
Millie was born in Somerville, Massachusetts on September 12, 1928 the daughter of Giles and Clara (Wilcox) Skinner.
She moved to Richmond as a young girl and considered it her home for the rest of her life. She married Donald W. Knight Sr. on Jan. 3, 1948. During her husbands 28 years in the Navy she accompanied him whenever possible to various places throughout the United States and abroad, including Alaska, Italy and Newfoundland.
Millie was involved in the Navy League and the Officers Wives Club. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She took great pleasure in being a mother and homemaker. Millie loved music and enjoyed singing and had a love for animals.
Millie and her husband enjoyed 30 years of retirement from the service before his death in February of 2002.
She is survived by sons Donald W. Jr. and his wife Denise of Lisbon Falls, Norman G. and his wife Kathy of Richmond, daughter Guli A. Knight and her partner Bob Neron of Topsham, 5 grandchildren, 1 great grandson, Sisters Connie Densmore of Winthrop, Jackie Curtis of Lisbon Falls, several nieces and nephews. Millie was predeceased by a sister Marion Umberhind.
Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, January 28th from 3 to 5pm at Kincer Funeral Home. Burial will be in the spring at Evergreen Cemetery, Richmond.
