Marilyn Jean Curtis

December 16, 1947-July 27, 2023

Marilyn Curtis (75) of Richmond, Maine passed away on July 27, 2023 after a short, but valiant fight with colon cancer. 

Born Marilyn Jean Rideout to Warren Rideout and Marcia Wheeler of Waite, Maine. After graduating from Princeton High School, Marilyn went to the University of Southern Maine where she met and married the love of her life, Melvin Curtis, in October of 1968. Together they had 2 children Tyson and Jocelyn Curtis. Marilyn always wanted to be a teacher and dedicated herself to that profession, touching many lives in Lewiston and Lisbon until her retirement in 2012. After retirement she focused her teaching on the continuing education of other teachers. She won and was honored with many awards for her dedication in teaching including runner up to Maine Teacher of the Year.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Grace, her brother, Roderick, and her husband Melvin.

Marilyn is survived by her children Tyson and Jocelyn Curtis, her grandchildren Ilanna and Miles, Her nieces and nephews John, Jodi, Jerry, Meredith, and Heather, and all her former students and friends that her life touched.

There will be a graveside service on August 4th at 2m at the Cotton cemetery/Richmond Cemetery in Richmond Maine
