Rita moved to Richmond at an early age, where she raised her family.  Rita worked at Etonic Shoe before retiring at the age of 62.  She worked for a brief time at L.L. Bean until she decided to retire full-time.

Rita loved to sew, that was her passion.  Quilting, crocheting, knitting, cross-stich; she did it all.  She made many quilts for her kids, and grandkids.  Rita also loved her chocolate, any kind of chocolate, but especially ice cream, and her sister Merti was able to give that to her before passing.  Rita also loved to spend time on the front porch with her husband, bird watching, while enjoying the quiet at their home in Litchfield until his passing.

Rita was predeceased by her husband whom she shared 50 years of marriage, Larry Young.  Rita was also predeceased by her son Richard Guiou, brother William Vieira, and sister Shirley Weyant.

Rita is survived by her sister, Merti Wisda, her son David Young and wife Robin, daughters Dianne Guiou and partner Kenneth, and Debra Walsh and husband Tom.  She is also survived by her grandchildren Josh Libby, Alyson Lavoie, Marci Jouver, Oranda Barter, Evan Guiou, daughter-in law Diane Rogers and husband Gary, and three great-grandsons.

At Rita’s request there will be no service.  A private burial will take place at the Plains Road Cemetery, in Litchfield, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.
