James Joseph L. Brawn
Bowdoinham-James L. Brawn, 79, of Wildes Road, died on May 1, 2013 at VA Medical Center, Togus.
He was born in Brunswick on April 19, 1934, the son of George and Beatrice (Small) Brawn.
James attended Brunswick High School until his entry into the United States Navy and followed this service with enlistment in the United States Air Force. He retired from service Jan. 1, 1975 having served twenty- two years.
After his military service he worked for Pejepscot Paper Co., was self employed, and then worked for Wright and Pierce Engineering in Topsham, Maine.
He was predeceased by his wife Rose (Gibbs) Brawn. They were married on April 24, 1959 in Knoxville, Tennessee. Rose passed away in their forty ninth year of marriage. James is survived by his son George Brawn of Huntington, West Virginia and his grandson James Joseph Brawn of Frostburg, Maryland. He is also survived by several siblings: Patricia Hartman, George A. Brawn, Jr., Carlyn Tome, Ellwood Brawn, and Jocie Almy.
Jim enjoyed hunting and fishing, and his many hours at his duck camp and walks in the woods.
He was a lifetime member of SAM (Sportsmans Alliance of Maine) and long time member of the Air Force Sergeants Association.
Memorial contributions to SAM or other conservation group is requested in lieu of flowers.
There will be no visiting hours or funeral service as requested by the deceased.
