Gloris Pinette

BATH - Gloris (Pertell) Pinette, 78, of 125 Congress Ave, Bath, passed peacefully on Friday, April 26, 2013 at her home with her family by her side.

She was born on July 6, 1934, in Georgetown, the daughter of Leo and Edna B. (Cunningham) Pertell. She was the last living sibling of six.

She attended Georgetown schools and won many spelling bees. She married Alfred J. Pinette at the age of 17 and was married for 57 years. They had five children and made their home in Arrowsic, Maine. Later in life, she said, " 'Dad' has fish to catch!" and they moved north to Greenville. She enjoyed packing a lunch, taking her knitting, and going with him while he fished or simply explored the back roads of the Moosehead Lake region. She quickly became a favorite by her neighbors, as she loved to cook. Her house was like a bakery and her delight was giving it all away! Although they left Greenville due to declining health, she often talked about good times there and she laughed when she heard her neighbors were all losing weight since she left.

She loved the Common Ground Fair and volunteered for years, folding thousands of t-shirts. Another passion was her needle work. She made intricate doilies, tablecloths, baby clothes, afghans, stockings and all the kids had a pair of mittens! Later in life, she enjoyed doing puzzles, playing Phase 10, and having a good game of Rummy.

She was a beautiful, spirited lady, a fierce defender of family and home, and a true pioneer of her time. She had an amazing sense of humor and has left friends and family with numerous memories and stories! She will forever be with us in heart and mind.

She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred J. Pinette; one sister, Regina (Delano) Winwood; five brothers Burton (Edward) Cunningham; Arthur Delano; Carl Delano, Sr.; Walter Delano; and Merwin Delano.
