VIRGINIA MAY "GINNY" GILBERT

WINDSOR -- Virginia May "Ginny" Gilbert, 84, of Windsor, passed away peacefully on Feb. 19, 2013, at the Maine Veterans' Home in Augusta. She was born April 22, 1928, in Farmington, the daughter of Ethel and Carrol Welch. Ginny enjoyed many years of horse racing with her longtime companion William Peace of Windsor. Two of her life-long friends were June Lowe and Joyce Kenny, with whom she shared many camping trips and winters in Florida. She also enjoyed making crafts and selling them at local shows. Her favorite times were spent with her family.

Ginny will be remembered for her quick wit and funny sayings.

She was predeceased by her husband, Donald Gilbert, of Skowhegan, in 1973; a brother, Chuck Wyman, of Connecticut; and her companion of 32 years, William Peace, of Windsor.

She is survived by two sons, Charles Belyea and companion Sandy, of Starks, and Bruce Belyea, of New Hampshire; three daughters, Faye Newman and husband Bob, of Windsor, and Leslie Mckenna and husband Harold, of Windsor, and Sharon, of Florida; grandchildren Melissa Cowing and husband Aaron, of Windsor, Nicole White and husband David, of Virginia, William Leblanc and wife Theresa, of Madison, Mark Leblanc, of Skowhegan, Marty Leblanc, of Madison, Matt Leblanc, of Madison, Cheryl Gedeon and husband Mark, of Florida, Tim Belyea, of Anson, Micheal Belyea, of Skowhegan, and Tiffany, Denise, Stephen and Buddy Belyea, all of New Hampshire; great-grandchildren Alexis Lee, William, Josh and Courtney Cowing, Tylor, Derrick and Dallas Leblanc, Mark Jr., Daniel and Stacey Gedeon, Buffy and Wendy Belyea; and one great-great-grandchild, Lola Green.

A memorial service will be held at the Maine Veterans' Home in the spring.

The family would like to thank all the staff at the Maine Veterans' Home and Hospice for the wonderful care she received. We would also like to thank her special friend Francis Crocker who brought much happiness to her days.
